Description
The accommodation bridge, located 640 metres east of Elstob Crossing, was built around 1830 for the Clarence Railway Company. It was widened and its north face was rebuilt in the mid-19th century. The bridge is constructed from squared red sandstone with tooled-and-margined dressings.
On the south face, there is a central semicircular tunnel arch featuring flush voussoirs and a raised keystone. The short parapet is defined by a band and chamfered coping, with low end piers topped by pyramidal caps. The raking side walls that flank the arch are canted on plan and have battered end piers. The north face mirrors the south, having a similar tunnel arch and parapet, with concave flanking retaining walls and end piers also capped with pyramids.
