Description
The King's Arms Public House is a public house dating from the early 18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of roughcast brick and features a renewed pantiled roof along with rebuilt brick chimney stacks. The building is two stories tall and has three bays. The entrance consists of a four-panel door with an overlight, which is flanked by small early 19th-century canted bay windows that have replaced sashes and hipped roofs. There is also a 20th-century doorway on the left side. On the first floor, there are two replaced six-pane sashes with projecting sills. The cogged brick eaves add to the architectural detail. The steeply-pitched roof has swept eaves, raised verges made of stepped brick, and end stacks. Inside, the ground-floor room on the left, which serves as the public bar, features chamfered ceiling beams of heavy scantling with run-out stops. Late 20th-century additions on the right return and rear of the building are not considered to be of special interest.
