Description
This is a barn and attached outbuildings located 30 metres north of Great Isle Farmhouse, dating from the mid-18th century for the barn and early 19th century for the outbuildings. The structures are built of coursed rubble with dressed quoins and some brick infill. The barn features a corrugated asbestos roof, while the outbuildings have pantiled roofs. The outbuildings form an L-plan range attached to the west return of the barn.
The barn is two storeys high and has seven bays, with flush quoins. The south wall includes two blocked doorways with alternating jambs and segmental rubble arches, along with two small rectangular openings above in chamfered surrounds. There is a tall blocked window set high in the gabled east return, and the roof is supported by six 19th-century King-post trusses.
The single-storey range of loose boxes and sheds includes a north range with three blocked segmental brick arches facing the yard. The west range has two Dutch doors facing the yard and a later bay added to the south. The south return features a boarded door under a segmental brick arch, with similar 19th-century openings on the west and north rear walls. The roof is hipped over the north-west corner. This building is included for its group value.
