Description
The gate piers and gates at the north entrance of Mainsforth Hall date from the mid 19th century and are designed in the style of the 18th century. They feature sandstone ashlar piers and wrought iron gates. The square piers are rusticated and have plinths, cornices, collars, and stepped copings topped with large pineapple finials. The gates are adorned with leaf-and-bud finials, dogbars with paired scrolls, and spiral finials on the principals, along with patterned bands. At the time of the survey, the coping on the right pier was dislodged. These structures are included for their group value.
