Description
The County Library branch, built around 1890, incorporates part of an early 19th-century rectory outbuilding. The building features thin courses of sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and has a roof made of plain tiles with stone gable copings, while the outbuilding has a stone-flagged roof. Designed in the Tudor revival style, the library is a single storey with one bay facing the street and a right return. The street elevation includes a central window with three stone-mullioned elliptical-headed lights beneath a label mould. The gable coping rests on flat kneelers, and the roof extends beyond the coping on the right return, which also has a corniced ashlar rear ridge chimney. The right return features a shallow canted bay window with three lights, matching the style of the street front, and a small square window to the right in a stone surround. The attached outbuilding has an elliptical-headed moulded stone doorway with a boarded door.
