Description

Bishop Butler’s House is a service wing of a former rectory, now used as a separate house. It dates from the early 19th century. The south elevation is painted render, while the return wall on the right is of rubble and the north elevation, facing the street, is also of rubble. The roof is covered in stone flags. The south elevation has three bays and three storeys, with 20th-century windows featuring projecting stone sills. It has a hipped roof with ridge chimneys. The north elevation is obscured by a wall and a locked gate. The building was empty at the time of survey. It is included on the heritage list for group value, reflecting its relationship to the adjacent former rectory and the associated flats and parish hall.
