Description

The stable block and byres, located 130 metres north of Doe Park, are early 19th-century stables with late 19th to early 20th-century byres. They are constructed from coursed rubble and feature stone-flagged roofs. The stable block is two storeys high and has three bays with flush quoins. It includes a boarded door set in a central round-arched surround with a projecting keystone and impost blocks. To the left, there is a replaced casement window in a tooled surround, while to the right, there is a boarded door in an altered opening and a later boarded opening. Above, there are three square openings in tooled surrounds. The roof has a coped right gable with shaped kneelers and is hipped to the left. A stone stairway leads to a boarded door on the left return, and there is a gabled right rear bay.

The one-storey byres consist of a five-bay range to the left of the stable block, featuring Dutch doors with flush lintels in bays two and four, and top-hung casements with flush lintels and projecting sills in bays one, three, and five. There is also a seven-bay range at right angles, which has Dutch doors in bays two, four, and six, and similar casements in bays one, three, and five, with a late 20th-century brick addition to bay seven. Both ranges have roofs with stone ridges.

Additions on the right and rear of the stable block, to the left of the five-bay byre, and to the left and right of the seven-bay byre are not of special interest. The byres are included for their group value.
