Description

West Park Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse that consists of two builds with early 19th-century additions. It is constructed of dressed sandstone and features a stone-flagged roof with stone chimney stacks. The building has a double-depth plan and includes two lean-tos on the right return and at the rear.

The front of the farmhouse is continuous and two stories high. The right section has three bays, while the left section, which was formerly a stable, has two narrow bays. The right section features a low plinth with flush quoins on the right side and at the junction. The central bay is blank, with two-pane sash windows on the ground floor and 12-pane sash windows above. The left section also has flush quoins on the left side, a partly-glazed four-panel door, and a two-pane overlight in the right bay, along with a first-floor 12-pane sash window in the left bay. The windows are topped with stone flat-arched lintels that have segmental tops. The roof has coped gables, a coping at the junction, and shaped kneelers, along with end stacks and a ridge stack that features top bands and water tables.

On the right return, there is a two-story set-back lean-to that has a replaced partly-glazed door and a four-pane sash window above. At the far right, there is a one-story set-back lean-to that has a 12-pane sash window.

Inside, the ground-floor sitting room boasts an elaborate marble chimney-piece that originated from Hornby Castle in Yorkshire.
