Description
BRANCEPETH HOLYWELL NZ 23 NW and NZ 23 NE (South side) 5/11 and 6/11 Inset Gazebo and garden 16/9/75 wall adjoining The West Wing, Holywell Hall GV II
Garden wall and gazebo. Mid-late C18. Narrow hand-made brick wall in irregular English garden wall bond. South-west wall of gazebo in hand-made brick; remainder coursed rubble with squared quoins. 3.5-metre tall wall runs south-west for c.60 metres from The West Wing of Holywell Hall. Brick coping and regularly-spaced buttresses on south; partly rebuilt in engineering brick near junction with gazebo. Low 2-storey, square-plan gazebo. Large blocked Venetian window on south-west face has stone key and lintels over side lights. C20 vehicle opening on north-east. Wood ladder-stair to first-floor doorway on south-east. Parapet, with moulded coping, is slightly ramped up at corners. Roofless. Wall and gazebo included for group value. One-storey addition on south-east of gazebo is not of special interest. Derelict at time of survey.
