Description
Tudhoe Lodge is a gate lodge built around 1870 for the Brancepeth Estate. It is constructed from tooled, snecked sandstone with ashlar dressings and features a graduated green slate roof along with an ashlar chimney stack. Designed in the Tudor style, the building has a T-plan layout, consisting of two storeys and three bays, with a wide, projecting gabled centre bay forming the leg of the T. The lodge has flush quoins and a string course between the storeys. The openings are set in chamfered surrounds, including a pointed doorway in the narrow left bay. There are 2- and 3-light mullioned windows with side-hung 6-pane casements. The central gable displays a relief of the Boyne Arms in a chamfered sunk panel. The steeply-pitched roof features coped gables, shaped footstones, and a half hip on the left side. A tall chimney with four clustered stacks is situated on the projecting ridge.
