Description
This is a cottage with an attached byre and a range of loose-boxes, located 10 metres north of Castle Farmhouse. It was built in the early 19th century, with the cottage raised by one storey in the late 19th century. The structure is made of coursed sandstone rubble and features stone-flagged roofs along with a stone chimney stack.
The cottage is two storeys high and has one bay, displaying alternating quoins and replaced four-pane sash windows. The roof has overhanging eaves and a truncated stack at the right end.
To the right of the cottage is a one-storey, one-bay byre that features a Dutch door with a flush lintel. Adjacent to this is a set-back one-storey range of loose-boxes, which has two small Dutch doors.
This building is included for its group value.
