Description
Thatch Cottage is a cottage and attached byre, now functioning as a cottage and garage. It likely dates from the late 17th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed rubble sandstone, with the left end set on a brick plinth. It features red brick and pantile dormers within a thatched roof, and there are brick stacks located at the center right and left of center. Originally, it had a hearth-passage plan with an attached byre. The structure is one storey with an attic and has a two-window front. The central entrance is a 20th-century half-glazed door, while there is a garage door at the left end. On the ground floor, the windows are two-light small-pane casements with painted timber lintels. In the attic, the windows are similar, located in raking half-dormers, and have unpainted timber lintels.
