Description
This is a pumping house built around 1890, located approximately 100 metres south of Broadwood Farm, which is now demolished. The structure is made of rock-faced sandstone, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings, and has a Welsh slate roof.
It is a single-storey building with two bays. The gable facing the lane has a half-glazed double door beneath a flat stone lintel on the right side, and a trefoil-headed louvred vent with a plain stone surround in the gable peak. The left side has a fixed light with glazing bars, while the right side is blank. Inside, the pumping house retains its original machinery, which includes a maker's plate from Soulsby of Grantham and Stockport.
