Description
The West Barn at Broadwood Home Farm is a barn with a stable, dating from the late 19th century. It is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings, and has a Welsh slate roof. The building is two storeys high and consists of six bays. The south elevation facing the yard likely contains the original stable in the left three bays, which has flat stone lintels over a Dutch door and flanking slatted openings. A similar design is found on an empty door in the fourth bay and on two first-floor pitching holes, both of which have projecting stone sills. The sixth bay features a full-height cart entrance with alternate-block jambs. The right return gable includes a similar cart entrance beneath a boarded gable peak, which has a round-headed central opening. The rear elevation facing the road has a louvred first-floor ventilation panel on the left. This barn is included for its group value.
