Description
No. 4 The College is a barn that has been converted into a house, possibly dating from the late medieval period with a 17th-century conversion. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and has been patched in pebble-dash render, topped with a roof of concrete tiles. The building has a narrow frontage located at the angle between the east and south ranges of the College, extending eastwards behind No. 3. It is a single storey with two bays at the front. The central entrance features a half-glazed door within an architrave, with a square overlight above it. To the right, there are 20th-century vehicle doors. The roof is steeply pitched, and the rear elevation includes a small triangular ventilator, now glazed, at the east end. Inside, there is a stop-chamfered tie-beam at the east end, and similar beams throughout have been cut through to provide headroom. The building is included for its group value.
