Description
No. 5 South Bailey is a house that has been converted into a college. It is constructed of brick in various bonds, including some in 6 and one in English garden wall bond, with a painted plinth and ashlar dressings. The roof is made of Welsh slate. The building has three storeys and five bays, with a wide infill at the right end.
The central entrance features a half-glazed door set within an architrave that has an entablature above it. There is a flat stone lintel and a projecting stone sill above a small narrow sash window to the left of the door. The ground floor includes two 16-pane sash windows, while the upper floor has late 19th-century sashes, all of which have header-course lintels and projecting stone sills. The building also features two-brick-wide floor bands, and the chimney at the right end has been raised in new brick. Additionally, there is a boot-scraper located in a recess beside the door.
