Description
No. 24 Newgate is a house, now divided into flats, dating from the mid-18th century. It features painted rough render with a painted plinth and painted ashlar dressings. The roof is covered with stone slates and has stone gable copings along with rendered chimneys. The building has three storeys and a three-window range.
The entrance to No. 24 includes a renewed four-panel door with a plain overlight, positioned between the first and second windows. No. 24A has a six-panel passage door located between the second and third windows, framed with an architrave, frieze, and cornice. The renewed plain sash windows are fitted with painted projecting stone sills. The low-pitched roof features stone gable copings on kneelers, adorned with cyma mouldings, and there are chimneys at both ends and to the right of the second bay.
Inside, No. 24 is noted for having panelled window shutters on the ground floor, while the first-floor beams of No. 24A are exposed.
