Description
Edge Knoll Farmhouse and attached farm buildings date from around 1725 and have undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The structure is made of thinly-rendered rubble with coarse sandstone ashlar dressings, quoins, and part boulder plinth. It features a stone-flagged roof with a stone ridge and stone gable copings. The main range has three rear wings and is two storeys high with four bays, the fourth bay being wider. To the left, there are one-storey, two-bay farm buildings set back, and to the right, a one-storey, one-bay extension.
A one-storey porch located in the second bay has an embattled parapet above renewed double doors set in a segmental-headed moulded stone surround with a dropped key. The windows are plain sashes with flat stone lintels and projecting stone sills. The right extension has a battlemented parapet with 20th-century masonry and a glazed door featuring glazing bars. The roof includes curved kneelers and three corniced ridge chimneys with strings. The rear wings are slightly lower and have gables treated similarly, with side stone steps leading to a first-floor door in the right wing.
Inside, the farmhouse displays large chamfered beams and a round-headed corner cupboard in one of the ground-floor rooms.
