Description
Witton House is a house dating from the third quarter of the 18th century, with later 18th-century additions. The house is painted render with a stone plinth, and has a Welsh slate roof, rendered stacks, stone gable coping and wood gutter brackets. It is arranged in an L-shape. The house has two storeys and three windows to the front, with the two left windows set in a large bowed projection. A long canopy, supported by posts, extends over the front of the bow. The front door, a renewed six-panel design with sidelights, is centrally placed in the three bays to the right. Tripartite sash windows flank the door, and there are twelve-pane sashes above the door and in the other bays, with the windows in the bow curved under rendered stone lintels. Pineapple finials are at the gable feet of the roof, and there are chimneys at the ends and between the second and third bays. The right return side has a blocked doorway and one Yorkshire sliding sash window on each floor.
Inside, the house features six-panel doors, which are older in the right part of the house, and a panelled reveal between the second and third bays on the left. There are also two-panel doors to the rear and on the first floor, along with some original door catches. A left wall in the main bedroom is panelled, and there are some panelled cupboards on the first floor.
