Description
St. Chad's is a house that has been converted into a college. It features a late 18th-century front on an earlier 18th-century building. The exterior is made of incised stucco with a painted plinth and ashlar dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The structure has three storeys and three bays. The half-glazed door in the first bay is framed by a stone architrave and hood, while sash windows with glazing bars and projecting stone sills are present throughout. There is also a boot-scraper beside the door.
Inside, there is an open-string dog-leg staircase with a grip handrail supported by alternating plain and fluted balusters that feature vases. The handrail is ramped with a half-wreath and half-curtail, and there is a Doric newel at the foot of the staircase. The interior also includes a ramped panelled dado.
