Description
The building is a field byre located approximately 50 metres east of Staindrop cemetery, likely dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of pinkish, thinly rendered coursed squared sandstone, featuring a plinth and ashlar dressings. The roof is made of small, thick dark grey slates topped with a lead finial. The structure has a circular plan and is one storey high, with four equally spaced Dutch doors set beneath flat stone lintels, although one lintel has been renewed in concrete. The building has a plain plinth and a similar eaves band, and it is topped with a steeply pitched conical roof that includes a spear finial.
Inside, the walls are rendered up to the eaves height, dividing the space into four sections. The roof features braced trusses from a central post, supporting two levels of curved purlins.
