Description
No. 202 Gilesgate is a building that originally consisted of two houses but is now one. It dates from the early 18th century and features painted incised stucco on the exterior. The roof is made of Welsh slate and has both a brick chimney and a rendered chimney. The building is two storeys high and has three bays, with the right bay projecting as it was originally one house.
The central entrance has a many-panelled door with sidelights, all sheltered by a hood. To the left, there is a wide tripartite sash window that has been altered from its original shop design, while above it is a smaller tripartite sash window of late 19th century style. The right bay contains sash windows with glazing bars, which are paired on the first floor, and there is a band at the first floor level. Inside, the building features some two-panelled doors.
