Description
No. 201 is a house located on the south side of Gilesgate in Durham, dating from the early 19th century. It features painted incised stucco with painted ashlar dressings and has a Welsh slate roof with brick chimneys. The building is two storeys high with an attic and consists of two bays.
The entrance includes a six-panelled door with an overlight, set back to the left within a doorcase that has narrow Tuscan pilasters, a fascia, and a cornice. There are two sash windows on each floor; the first-floor windows have glazing bars, while the ground-floor windows have been renewed. These windows are framed by architraves with projecting stone sills.
The house also has two half dormers, added around 1900, which feature glazing, projecting stone sills, and segmental pediments. A chimney is located at the right end of the building.
