Description
The railway viaduct over Afon Ebwy, partly located in the Rogerstone community, is a Grade II* listed structure. It is constructed from squared rubble stone and features four round arches, which are adorned with cut stone voussoirs. The viaduct is supported by three piers that have two-step triangular cutwaters; the top step is chamfered back to a flat pier that is also stepped. There is a thin string course between the piers, located beneath a high parapet, although the coping and top level may have been reduced in height. The outer abutments are large and splayed, with similar raised piers. The structure also incorporates significant iron strapping.
