Description
The footbridge at the former Tredegar Park Golf Course is a triple-span structure featuring rubble abutments and piers. It has some dressed masonry on V-shaped cutwaters and cappings, which indicate the original width of the bridge. The later ironwork deck consists of flanged girders with slotted-in plates and bolted handrails. The bridge is adorned with balusters topped with ball finials and plain rods, as well as commemorative plaques that have shaped heads, royal arms, and the Tredegar arms. The inscriptions on the plaques read, "C Jordan Engineer, Iron and Brass Founder, Newport, Mon, 1870," and "Mr R Paine, Surveyor to the Right Hon. The Lord Tredegar 1970." A modern pipe is fixed to the west side of the bridge.
