Description
Crindau comprises Crindau House and the Crindau Sports and Social Club, and largely dates from the 18th century. The original building's most visible historic feature is a two-storey gabled porch, rendered and painted with a clay-tiled roof. This porch has a fine classical, pedimented doorway with an inscription and date in the frieze, a moulded Tudor arch featuring tiny shields in the spandrels, and square piers with deep plinths. The inner doorway has a similar arched wooden frame. The main range is cement rendered with a Welsh slate roof and yellow brick ridge stacks. To either side of the porch, the properties have a three-window range and replacement glazing, with the central windows being four-light and those on the sides being two-light. These windows feature moulded surrounds, mullions, and polygonal leaded glazing. The Crindau House section to the right incorporates the porch, and here, the windows have brick surrounds. Gable end right shows the remains of a former oriel window, now recreated in wood. The Sports and Social Club section to the left has a flat-roofed front extension and moulded, rendered window surrounds to the first floor. A rear extension is also present. The Sports and Social Club is reported to retain two blocked 16th-century stone fireplaces. Aside from the porch windows, no other historic fabric is visible in the interior of Crindau House.
