Description

This building, located at 27-30 High Street (including 27a), is a group of shops with offices above, designed in the French Renaissance style. It is constructed from Bathstone and Pennant stone, topped with a slate mansard roof. The structure features three storeys plus large attic dormers. The pedimented stone attic dormer, which is simplified at the right end, encloses two arched windows, while there is a single window at the left end. On the second floor, there are two camber-headed windows in each bay, but only in the two right-hand bays. The first floor features shallow splayed bay windows for each bay, although the shop fronts on the ground floor are modern or altered. On the left side, above the corner entrance to No 27, there is a semi-circular turret with three windows on each floor, topped with a truncated conical lead roof. Bathstone panels are set in the Pennant stone facing on either side of the turret. The elevation facing Market Street has two windows on the second floor and a bay window on the first floor.
