Description
The National Westminster Bank, which includes Nos. 2 and 4 Cambrian Road, is a two-storey Classical bank building constructed from Bathstone on a granite plinth. It features a balustraded parapet, a dentil cornice, and an acanthus frieze. The entrance is located in a convex corner bay, with a granite portal flanked by paired Doric columns that support an entablature adorned with a frieze featuring laurels. Above the doorway is a window, and on the first floor, there is a central window flanked by smaller windows. The High Street elevation has nine windows, with pilasters on the upper floor and half-columns on the ground floor. The central bay is emphasized by a Grecian roof line, and there are masks on the keystones of the ground floor. The Bridge Street elevation has seven windows, with a central doorway featuring a granite portal and a semi-circular arched window above. The ground floor has windows at two levels.
Inside, the bank boasts a fine interior with polychrome tile work on the wall dado, polychrome marble pilasters above, and polychrome tiled barley sugar columns.
