Description
This is a group of four shops built in the Northern Renaissance style. They are three storeys tall with an attic under a steep Mansard roof. The exterior is made of grey Pennant stone with bathstone dressings. There is a relief band of swags between the first and second floors. Numbers 158 and 160 each feature very large pedimented dormers with strapwork relief and scrolls on the sides; each dormer contains two sash windows. The second floors of these shops also have two sash windows, while the first floors feature oriel windows. On either side of the second floor windows, there are roundels with relief heads, and on each side of the oriel windows, there are vertical relief panels. Number 157, which was formerly identical, has a simplified flat window on the first floor but retains the relief details, although the stonework has been painted.
