Description
The Woolwich Building Society is a building designed in the French Renaissance style. It features a steeply pitched slate roof and bathstone elevations, which are adorned with a dentil cornice. The first floor has windows topped with small pediments, while the ground floor is made of pale stone. There are two pedimented dormers facing Commercial Street and a dome located at the corner of the building.
On the Commercial Street side, there are three windows, with a doorway to the left and two additional windows. The design includes a curving corner bay. On the Austin Friars side, there is one window, a blank bay that was formerly a chimney, two more windows, and paired windows in the end bay topped with a pavilion roof. The ground floor features two windows at the corner, four windows along Austin Friars, and a doorway with scrolled brackets supporting a hood.
