Description

3 St. James’ Street is a house of around 1800. It is a double-depth building with three storeys and attics, originally featuring four windows, spaced further apart on the left side. The front of the house is rendered and painted, with chamfered quoins and horizontal bands marking the floor levels. It has a Welsh slate roof. A Doric doorcase with a pediment and a radiating fanlight sits in the second bay, leading to a six-panel door. The sash windows are set nearly flush with the wall and have six panes over six panes in flat heads, with stone sills. The roof has two gabled dormers, which appear to be later 20th-century additions, and two chimney stacks on the right gable.

The rear elevation has a central doorway and three two-over-two pane sash windows on each floor. There are also two swept gabled dormers with two-by-two pane casements. The interior has been converted into flats, with access at the rear, and the original front door is no longer in use.
