Description
12 St Mary Street is a tall shop and cafe building constructed from painted brick, featuring a mansard slate roof with boarded eaves and a brick end stack. The decorative black and white three-storey frontage includes a Venetian window in the gable, which has a semicircular central light with a keystone and columns, as well as black and white painted voussoirs and quoins. Below a deep convex cornice, there are two full-height bow windows on the first floor, which are three-light cross-framed with latticed upper casements, and are fronted by swept railed iron balconies. The shop front is deep and double-fronted, with a moulded cornice, slender corner mullions, divided upper lights, a tiled plinth, wide end pilasters with tapering panels, a boarded soffit, and a terrazzo step leading to a recessed central doorway.
