Description

This railway bridge, located by Chepstow Station, is constructed from coursed rockfaced stone with tooled stone dressings. It features a wide chamfered segmental arch that spans the road, with a narrow brick lining in the vault and a blue-brick header arch on the downhill (eastern) side, while the uphill (western) side has voussoirs. Above the arch is the deck, which includes side rails. The parapet has coping on the downhill side, although it has been lost on the uphill side, which has inset metal straps. At the base of the bridge, there is a roll-moulded band. The bridge also has curved and angled abutments that are partly buttressed.
