Description
The War Memorial at Monmouth Boys School is constructed of grey Cornish granite and combines elements of a late medieval preaching cross and an Elizabethan sundial. It features three square diminishing steps that lead up to a plinth, which is inscribed with the names of the fallen. The plinth has a flat coping and a square socket stone that is also inscribed. Above this, a circular shaft with a base mould and cap supports a panelled block resembling a sundial. This block has its own coping and is topped with a pyramid, a ball, and a cross.
