Description
No. 18 Hereford Road is part of a group of houses numbered 14 to 20, built in the 19th century. The front facades are rendered and painted, except for No. 20, which has exposed random sandstone rubble. The rear elevations are partly weatherboarded, with modern interlocking tiles on the front slope and some pantiles on the rear. The building has a double depth plan with a rear lean-to, is two storeys tall with an attic, and features eight windows in total, all with 2 over 2 pane sashes. The paired front doors are of a Victorian design, consisting of four panels with two glazed panels and shared hoods above. The roof is steeply pitched and includes four small dormers with sloping roofs, each containing 2 + 2 pane casements. There is a gable stack for No. 20 and a shared stack between Nos. 16 and 18, while the stack for No. 14 appears to have been removed. The rear elevation includes a single-storey pentice, which is weatherboarded above and has one window each, with all features dating from the 20th century. The interior was not seen during the resurvey.
