Description
16 Hereford Road is part of a row of houses numbered 14 to 20 on Hereford Road, built in the 19th century. The front façades of these houses are rendered and painted, except for No. 20, which has exposed random sandstone rubble. The rear elevations are partly weatherboarded, and the roofs feature modern interlocking tiles on the front slope and some pantiles on the rear. The building has a double depth plan with a rear lean-to, stands two storeys tall with an attic, and has a total of eight windows across the front, all fitted with 2 over 2 pane sash windows. The paired doors are of a Victorian design, consisting of four panels with two glazed panels and shared hoods above. The steeply pitched roof is adorned with four small dormers that have sloping roofs and 2 + 2 pane casements. There is a gable stack for No. 20, a shared stack between Nos. 16 and 18, and the stack for No. 14 appears to have been removed. The rear elevation features a single-storey pentice that is weatherboarded above, with one window each, all of which are 20th-century features. The interior was not seen during the resurvey.
