Description

The retaining wall between Castle Street car-park and the Garden of Old Court is constructed of red sandstone random rubble, with very little of it being considered ancient. Approximately 20 meters of the wall, which stands about 3 meters high, is still intact and features flat stone capping. There are signs of repairs, including the use of brick, as well as heightening and rebuilding. The elevation in the Castle Street car-park is quite low because of the difference in ground level inside the wall circuit.
