Description

The terrace wall to the east of Rose Castle is a structure likely dating from the 18th century. It is constructed from large blocks of coursed red sandstone, which may have been taken from the medieval castle. This retaining wall is situated outside the curtain wall and spans part of the former moat. It features stepped buttresses at regular intervals along its long, straight length on the eastern side of the garden. The wall is included in the listing for its group value with Rose Castle.
