Description

Haythwaite is a house dated 1761, with very weathered initials above the entrance. It is constructed of red sandstone ashlar, with a graduated greenslate roof featuring coped gables and kneelers, and later 19th-century brick chimney stacks. A lower extension is built of red sandstone rubble and painted render with graduated greenslate and Welsh slate roofs. The main house is two storeys and three bays, with extensions of two bays and a single bay. The front has a six-panel door within a rusticated surround and a full three-part entablature. Sash windows with glazing bars are set within stone surrounds. The extension includes smaller casement windows and external stone steps leading to a blocked loft entrance.
