Description
The barn and cowshed at The Rock Farm is a Grade II listed building, aligned east-west, with an attached single-storey range running north at right angles. The barn is constructed from whitewashed rubble stone and features a slate and corrugated iron roof. It has full-height threshing doors located to the right of the centre, a smaller door to the left, and single ventilation slits on each side. The west gable end includes two tiers of dove holes. To the east, there is a slightly lower lofted range with external stone steps leading up to a doorway on the first floor at the extreme right. The left side of this range is obscured by the end of a long single-storey cowhouse range that runs north. The first part of the cowhouse is made of whitewashed stone with a pantile roof, featuring a door to the right and a cambered-headed window to the left. This was extended to the north by an equal amount using whitewashed brick with Bridgewater tiles on the roof. There are lean-tos of different dates on the rear walls. The interior was not available for inspection at the time of the resurvey in December 1999.
