Description

The gravestone of John Renie is located in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary. It is made of sandstone and features a tablet surrounded by a roll-mould. The inscription reads: "JOHN RENIE WHO DIED 31 MAY 1832 AGED 33 YEARS." Notably, the name "JOHN RENIE" is inscribed continuously as an acrostic in 15 lines, each containing 19 letters, allowing it to be read in all directions, reportedly around 46,000 times.
