Description
This listing describes a group of six headstones made of sandstone, located approximately 2 to 8 yards south of the Church of St Andrew.
From right to left, the headstones are as follows:
1) Ruth Cook, dated 1793, features a scrolled pedimented top with a well-carved angel and an inscription in a finely-moulded oval panel.
2) Ruth Hepple, dated 1786, has a scrolled pedimented top that frames a shell and a memento mori.
3) Michael Cook, dated 1784, displays an arched top that is elaborately and finely carved with an angel, festoons, and foliage.
4) Margaret Steel, from the 18th century, has an elaborately shaped top with a memento mori.
5) Paul Renwick, dated 1757, features an arched top with an angel's head.
6) John Crow, dated 1765, has a shaped top with an angel framed by curtains, accompanied by good lettering.
