Description

Nos. 33 and 35 New Market Street are a pair of houses with late Georgian frontages, built as an attachment to a larger range and opening directly onto the street. The houses are rendered and painted, with slate roofs; the roof of No. 33 incorporates rooflights and is artificially sloped. Brick stacks are positioned at the centre and right end of the roof. The houses are two storeys and have an attic. Each house has a two-window front. The upper windows are 12-pane sashes within raised surrounds, which are molded on the front of No. 35. The ground floor features tripartite windows on each side, and a doorway is set to one side, also with a raised surround. The doorways have recessed 6-panelled doors and divided overlights. A quoin-strip separates the two houses, and a plinth with ventilation grilles runs along the base.
