Description

Nos. 3 and 5 Pegasus Court on Mill Street is a red brick house from the 18th century, which is unusual in an area typically dominated by stone-built dwellings from the same period. The house features a natural slate roof with red ridge tiles and red brick chimneys. It has a single depth plan, with the original service wing replaced by additional housing units from the late 20th century, which are in keeping with the character of the area.

The front of the house is symmetrical, with a central entrance. It stands three storeys tall and has three windows. The entrance includes a large six-panel door with an Adam-type 'cobweb' fanlight and an open pediment surround. This entrance is a late 20th-century replacement of two modern doors that were present at the time of listing in 1974. There are brick bands at both floors, and the windows are sash style with keyed heads, featuring eight over eight panes, while the second-floor windows have four over four panes. The house also has a moulded and dentil cornice, a hipped roof, and two multi-flued stacks on the rear wall.

Additional housing units are now attached to both the left gable wall and the rear elevation along Mill Street. The house does not have a rear elevation. The interior was not inspected during the resurvey, but it is likely to have been altered when the property was converted into two separate homes.
