Description
The building is a small rectangular stable block with an attached shelter shed located at The Maerdy. It dates from the 19th century and forms a linear range. The two-storey stable features English bond brickwork and a corrugated metal roof. On the northwest front, the upper floor has a square boarded door with strap hinges leading to the loft, along with a doorway below. The northeast gable includes a small opening at the gable head with a boarded inner shutter, and on the ground floor, there is a blocked doorway with an inserted window to the right. The front of the attached shelter shed faces the farmyard; it was originally open-fronted but is now enclosed by 20th-century corrugated metal sheeting. The back elevation consists of a long buttressed wall that borders the roadside. Inside the shelter shed, there is an 8-bay interior with a raking queen strut roof.
