Description
The stable located to the east of Red House Farmhouse is a 19th-century structure built of small random rubble, with some parts rendered. It features an external staircase made of red brick and has a blue slate roof. The building has three bays aligned on a northwest/southeast axis.
The northwest gable end includes a loft doorway with a restored board door, accessed by a red brick staircase. This staircase has a kennel-opening in its front wall, and above it is a small square opening that may have been intended for a cockerel. To the right of the doorway, there is an oblong window with a restored grill made of diamond-section wooden bars.
On the southwest side, the rear half of the stable is rendered and contains a doorway and a small window, both featuring red brick segmental heads. Inside, the original stall positions are still visible, and the flooring consists of traditional blue brick typical of stables. The loft area contains two hardwood roof trusses with crown posts.
