Description
Cwrt Henllys is a farmhouse with an attached barn, featuring a long range design and dating from the 19th century. The building has three corniced yellow brick chimneys, with one located on the left and two on the ridge, the right one positioned between the house and barn. It is one and a half storeys tall, finished in painted roughcast and topped with concrete tiles. A medieval chamfered pointed stone doorway is present, along with three ground floor windows to the left and two to the right. There are two catslide windows breaking the eaves over the two furthest left windows, one over the door, and one to the extreme right. All glazing is from the 20th century, and the door and windows to the right are part of a 20th-century conservatory that extends as a lean-to in front of the barn.
The attached barn has a continuous roof and is constructed of rendered rubble stone, featuring a broad doorway. Inside the entrance hall, there are two medieval stone pointed doorways, one on each side. The left doorway leads into a room beside the fireplace, which has a massive oak fireplace lintel. The beam over the fireplace is chamfered with a diagonal stop, while a second massive beam also has a diagonal stop and is supported by a large oak beam from the back wall. A third beam, which is plastered over, may be modern and aligns with a lost partition, while a fourth chamfered beam is located on the end wall where the fireplace and stairs to the left have been removed. The front wall is notably thick.
To the right of the entrance hall, a medieval pointed arch leads into a room that has six oak beams, although none are as massive as those in the left part. The fireplace in this room has been removed. There are 20th-century stairs from the entrance hall. The loft over the left room is not accessible, but one large purlin is visible on the rear roof over the stairs, along with three collar trusses to the right, where the roof was formerly covered with stone tiles. The barn features three tie-beam and collar trusses and triple purlins.
