Description
Pandy-mawr is a farmhouse dating from 1719, featuring whitewashed render and concrete tile roofing. The building has been altered with rebuilt end stacks, with the upper stack made of cement block and the lower stack rendered, showcasing a square stack and a corbelled chimney breast supported by three corbels visible in the attached barn. The farmhouse is one and a half storeys high, with a central gabled porch projection and leaded casement windows on both floors, which were reused from a nearby location in the 20th century. The upper windows break the eaves, and the porch displays a plaque with the initials J. and A. G, with the G raised in the center.
Inside the farmhouse, there are chamfered beams and an oak chamfered broad doorway leading into the house. The barn, which has a whitewashed rendered front, features loops on either side of a central doorway with a timber lintel and a pentice roof. The end wall is made of rubble stone and has a stone shelf under the gable. The rear wall is also whitewashed rendered, with a central doorway and loops on each side. The barn is roofed with 20th-century asbestos and metal sheets.
The farmhouse has a two-room plan, with a fireplace in the right-hand room that includes an oak lintel and a bread oven in the corner. There are four medium-sized chamfered beams, and a winding stair to the right of the fireplace with a door. The stair has stone treads, although the lowest and topmost steps are wooden. A large 20th-century rear window is present, along with a small blocked window to the left. A cupboard to the left of the fireplace has been converted into an open recess, which contains a tiny blocked window. The wall between the two rooms is plastered, possibly covering a plank partition, with doors at each end. The smaller room, now a kitchen, has two beams, with the back beam being rough and supporting the hearthstone above. The roof trusses feature tie-beams and collars with double purlins.
The barn has a three-bay interior with opposed doors and was formerly lofted on each side. It features tie-beam trusses supporting a triple purlin roof. Some of the door lintels incorporate older timbers that have been reused. There is a blocked door to the rear left and a vent loop to the right.
