Lime kiln to N of Pentre-Bach (partly in Cwmbran Central)

The lime kiln, built in a rectangular plan, is located to the north of Pentre-Bach, partly within Cwmbran Central. It is constructed into a bank at the edge of a field, featuring walls made of rubble stone and retaining walls that splay out on each side. On the longer southern side, there are two large kiln-eyes that are offset to the east, with the wall stepping out at the western end. The kiln-eyes have segmental arches made of dressed stone voussoirs and a central rubble stone pier. The crucible is open and lined with brick, but it is in deteriorating condition, as is the kiln-eye to the east. Additionally, the western retaining wall and central pier have been extended, and the area has been roofed with iron sheets to create an animal shelter.
