Description
Ty'r Ywen Farmhouse is a farmhouse with an attached cowhouse, constructed from stone. The roof is covered with old slates that have a bitumastic coating, while the cowhouse has corrugated sheeting. The house features a larger chimney at the downslope end and a smaller chimney at the upper end. It faces north and has a stair outshut on the left end, which includes a square window set high. There are two windows at ground floor level. The rear of the house has a small square window at the eaves and a later porch.
Adjacent to the farmhouse is a 19th-century two-storey block that has a window on each floor and a lean-to on the gable end. The cowhouse, facing north, has two doorways and a window set at the eaves. At the rear, a former doorway near the house has been converted into a window, and there is a later doorway as well.
Inside, the ground floor features a joist-beam ceiling. The main block of the house consists of two rooms, with the principal room containing a large blocked fireplace and a winding stair to the left. There is also a blocked doorway leading to the cowhouse. The roof structure includes lapped tie-beams.
